Our client, American Superconductor Corporation, is a leader in alternative energy, offering grid interconnection solutions as well as licensed wind energy designs and electrical systems, and is looking for a Regional Sales Engineer to join their commercial team in Europe. The position will be home office based in the UK and will provide technical sales support for current and potential client orders in the UK and across Europe. The Job: Regional Sales Engineer
The key objective for the Regional Sales Engineer will be to help drive sales of voltage stability, voltage regulation, and power quality solutions to Utilities, Wind farm developers, and Industrial customers in the UK and internationally.
Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for utility and industrial sales activities
  • Work with utilities to understand their challenges and generate interest in performing joint studies on voltage related problems
  • Build trading area strategies to proactively generate leads and systematically attack the opportunities within the marketplace
  • Integrate the efforts of ASC functional areas to develop and execute complete, responsive and accurate technical proposals and project plans
  • Provide sales support for customers, assist in developing solutions, identifying requirements, conducting site surveys, developing project plans, schedules and cost estimates, while reviewing site designs and coordinating activities necessary to close orders.

The Candidate:

  • Should have a minimum 7-10 years experience in creatively selling equipment or services in the utility market or the generation of utility transmission studies.
  • Knowledge of the Utility Planning Cycle as well as the technical issues that concern utility transmission planners
  • Demonstrated sales abilities including strategy development, account planning, and success in closing large projects with multiple influence points.
  • A passion for the technology and industry
  • Approach work with a level of intense energy and positive outlook.
  • Education: BS in Electrical Engineering is preferred.  MS/MBA a plus
  • Prefer an individual with experience selling SVC, Statcom, or other FACTS devices to utility and industrial customers.

The company recognises the growing imperative of carefully measuring and managing its impact across all of its activities and is now recruiting a compliance office to take over the management of CSR and Intellectual Property (IP) issues within its supply chain across the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region. The job:

  • Taking ownership of the company’s CR programme in the EMEA region, by managing its supply chain and assessing and reporting on relevant CSR risks
  • Engaging with suppliers and driving compliance improvements throughout EMEA
  • Tracking and reporting the CR status of vendors/manufacturers.
  • Managing new factory / labour assessments and auditing programmes
  • Establishing relationships and engaging with other brands and where applicable broader stakeholders.
  • Helping to drive buy-in and impact of CR issues throughout the organisation.
  • Training factories in the region on the company’s Ethical Trading Policy
  • Assisting with intellectual property (IP) management at the factory level and providing general support to the IP team
  • Establish a network of service providers who can help factories achieve compliance and improve their businesses.  These providers should be able to identify root causes of ethical trading issues and provide relevant business solutions to these, such as productivity training, etc

You:

  • Are a qualified social auditor or have similar experience of devising an ethical trading approach
  • Have worked in a similar role for 3+ years.
  • Preferably have languages including any of the following: French, Arabic, Portuguese, Italian and/or Spanish.
  • Have worked with textiles/accessories brands and are aware of the key sustainability issues facing the industry.
  • Are driven, enthusiastic and enjoy travel, with a passion for ethics
  • Are autonomous, but also function well within a team
