Peak District National Park AuthorityPosted by: Richard Linington in Travel, Tourists, Renewable EnergyThe Peak District National Park Authority has turned down an application from the National Trust to errect a wind turbine to help supply electricity to White Edge Lodge holiday cottage. The Crown Estate has agreed to purchase a prototype of the world’s largest wind turbine. The Britannia turbine has been designed for offshore use and can generate 7.5MW of power (and measures 175 meters in height). By 2020 the Government want to develop 33 gigawatts of power from offshore wind farms.

The report can be read here. Clipper Windpower which works in the field of wind energy technology has recently attracted investment from One Equity Partners (JP Morgan Chase’s private equity arm). Source: LSE FuturEnergy, a company working in the renewable energy sector, have provided a wind turbine to the Principality of Sealand, a former military fort located off the coast of the UK to help them meet their electricity needs.

I think you can even volunteer to help out and over the summer months you can see the Magnificent Revolution in action at a number of events.
