The Mayor of London has recently announced a new programme, spending approximately £500 million over the next 10 years, to improve the cycling and walking experiences in London for both Londoners and tourists. The programme will help to create a new network of routes for cyclists and pedestrians in London and introduce a bike hire scheme in central London. One of the aims of the project is to encourage 1 in 10 Londoners to take a ‘round trip’ by bike each day. This will help to reduce CO2 emissions by 1.6 million tonnes per annum.
