Located within a short walk of the centre of St David’s the 12 bedroom “TYF Eco Hotel is part of The TYF Group Ltd. - one of Wales’s greenest and most ethical businesses, so the hotel has been keeping a close eye on its social and environmental impacts for many years.
However, now we’ve take things a step further and become an ‘Eco Hotel.’ So, whether the issue is climate change or factory farming, the hotel team is taking action to protect the planet for future generations and make the world a better place.
Serving organic and local food and drink, with vegetarian options, enables the hotel to support the local economy and protect animal welfare and the environment, so TYF Eco Hotel recently became the first organic hotel in Wales, certified through the Welsh Organic Scheme. This means that nearly all the food and drink served at the hotel is organic.
Climate Change is probably the greatest environmental threat facing the planet. And it’s not some slow controlled change - it’s unpredictable and unpleasant - you never know what dangerous changes are lurking round the corner.
So the hotel is working to reduce its energy use and the resulting climate-change-causing carbon dioxide emissions. All carbon dioxide emissions that are produced directly by the hotel are offset through the support of renewable energy projects in other parts of the world.
The hotel has developed an ethical purchasing policy. This means that everything bought for the hotel has to go through an ethical shopping filter.
And, in order to ensure that the hotel’s environmental performance is continually improving, an externally audited Green Dragon environmental management system is run on an ongoing basis.”
