Manager, Energy & Carbon

A unique role has arisen within one of Europe’s largest telecoms companies as a Senior Manager within their Energy and Climate Change team. This is a fantastic chance for an experienced Climate Change professional to work for a major household brand.
Joining the organisation at a crucial time in their development, the successful candidate will head up an expert team to help reduce and improve the company’s impact on the environment.
This varied, high profile position will involve delivering an end-to-end strategy for energy and carbon management across the lines of business, at optimal cost. Working within the Energy and Carbon Management Unit, this role will manage energy policy initiatives, provide strategic support across the organisation, handle legislative issues, and develop ongoing strategy for the organisation around these issues.
Key responsibilities of the role are:
- To act as the company’s “energy expert” and manage the strategy team (5 people)
- Be responsible for the energy and carbon strategy budgets
- Develop, manage and provide strategic input to the Renewable Energy Strategy
- To support the climate change programme, working closely with the CSR team
- To represent the organisation’s interests within UK government / DETR, Regulatory regimes, OFGEM / Energy Watch and other professional bodies and / or NGOs
The successful candidate will have a solid background in developing energy and carbon reduction strategies, as well as the corporate experience to work with FTSE100 board members.
Other candidate requirements include:
- An engineering degree or equivalent qualification relevant to energy and carbon management/environment
- Good people management skills
- Solid financial acumen
Experience in a large multi-national company, specifically within the telecoms sector is also advantageous.
