Growth of carbon offsetting in the UK

Defra (sorry I can’t find the exact reference but hopefully this will suffice) report that the voluntary carbon offset market was valued at £60 million in 2006 and that is likely to grow to £250million by 2009!

Defra - the environment

Defra (Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs) has released research (2007 Survey of Public Attitudes and Behaviours) on the publics’ attitude and behaviour towards the environment.  “Of the issues people think the Government should be dealing with, the environment was the fourth most commonly mentioned behind crime, health and education.”

National Trust and English Heritage

The National Trust and English Heritage are conducting research to identify historic sites which will disappear if sea levels rise.    The UK coastline is receding by up to 6.5 feet per annum in some locations.
