Is the future green tourism?

The Guardian writes that “Britain has a budding green travel market with over a million responsible holidays, worth a total of £409m, taken last year, according to the latest research from Mintel. Green tourists still form a tiny minority, the survey finds, with responsible breaks accounting for only 1.2% of the 2006 UK travel market. [...]

Carbon Offsetting

The Guardian reports that since BA launched their carbon offsetting scheme some 20 months ago that they have offset less than 3,000 tonnes of carbon (less than 0.01% of their emissions).   The article written by Nick Davies provides a number of other interesting examples where carbon offsetting initiatives haven’t gone to plan.
